The flint is opaque, mid-brown with darker mottling and has a low-gloss patina with areas of heavy, reddish brown ferrous staining, mainly on flake scar ridges. A small area of chalky nodular cortex remains on the dorsal face distal end. Broad flake scars and more linear blade scars are visible across the dorsal face. The flake does show some post-depositional edge damage however there is no convincing reworking or retouch. The ventral face shows a fairly low bulb of percussion indicating probable use…

A possible Levalloisian core flake. Sub-oval in shape with a lenticular cross-section. The flaking appears intentionally to have shaped the flint while still on the original core, creating a distinctive 'tortoise shell' flaking, typical of Levallois flint technology. The ventral face shows a prominent bulb of percussion indicating probable use of a hard hammer. The flint is opaque and mid-grey with a mid-gloss patina but is now covered in a smooth off-white recortification except for an area of modern damage on the right side margin of the dorsal face which exposes the natural colour o…

Two struck flint flakes of probable later prehistoric date (Neolithic/Bronze Age) dating c. 4000-750 BC. Both are relatively squat hard hammer secondary removals, demonstrating c. 20-30% cortex on their dorsal faces. They have been struck from a core of relatively translucent mid-grey flint that in places is patinated to an off-white colour with traces of iron staining, though are otherwise preserved in relatively fresh condition. Lengths; 53.31/46.60mm. Combined weight 30.02g.
