A small retouched/denticulated flake of Portland chert. The chert is opaque and dark grey in colour with a low-gloss patina. The flake is sub-oval with one rounded end and one end rectilinear, it has a triangular cross section. The dorsal face shows linear parallel blade removal scars, with a denticulated edge with 10 teeth along the whole of the left side margin. The right side margin has possible fine retouch or later edge damage. A small denticulated implement. A possible fragment of saw or serrated tool. Made on a tertiary flake of blue-grey flint with abundant off-white mottles. The surface is matt. At the proximal end is the remnant of a small striking platform. On the ventral face is a low bulb of percussion and numerous closely spaced waves. The distal end is broken off. On the dorsal face are two flake removal scars. One margin has been denticulated from the ventral face. Date: Neolithic to Bronze Age c. 4000 - 1000 BC Dimensions: 21.9mm x 19.4mm x 3.4mm Weight: 1.31g
