An incomplete cast copper alloy dagger dating. The dagger is broadly triangular with a straight sides tapering to a rounded point. It is almost flat in cross section, with a defined, thinned edges leaving a low central rib on both faces. At the hilt end the remnant of a flared tang with a semi-circular hole on either side for missing rivets. Both faces have some raised and uneven corrosion products, particularly at the tang end. A copper alloy dagger pommel of Oakshott Type A form, Petersen Type U, dating to c.950 - c.975. A flattened domed semi-circular pommel with a sub-circular slot at the top to accomodate the tang of the missing blade. The underside is open with a pointed oval opening. A copper alloy dagger pommel with lead infill. A domed circular pommel with a rectangular slot at the top to accomodate the tang of the missing blade. The underside is open with the sides tapered in and slightly waisted. In the hollow are remnants of lead infill to weight the pommel to balance the missing blade. A incomplete cast copper-alloy quillon dagger guard. It resembles a small pick-axe in form and has a central sub-rectangular body, with large, irregular rectangular aperture through which the dagger tang would pass, with one surviving arm, the other is broken and missing. A copper alloy zoomorphic dagger or knife stop or pommel. A large animal head with a long pointed muzzle ending in a high pointed snout and a straight incised line along both sides for the mouth. The eyes and brows set on each side of the head and are indicated by three angeled ridges (running fom the snout at the top towards the rear of the hea at the bottom). An incomplete bronze dagger. The butt and part of the blade only remaining. The butt is curved and has four rivet holes (one broken), two at either side along the lower edge. The two inner rivet holes containing, circular sectioned rivets. The rivest would have been used to attach a missing handle and on one face there is a stain between the rivets which may be from the handle. It shows a tongue-shaped incurve similar to that seen on the handle of a dagger found in the Thames (British Museum online collection, Museum no. 1882 0518.6, http://www.britishmuseum.org/research/collection_on…

An incomplete copper alloy dagger or sword quillon guard. There are two trapezoidal cross-sectioned arms, both incomplete, projecting from a widened centre section which has a rectangular aperture which would have accommodated a dagger or sword tang. At one side is a large fan-shaped projection with incised radiating lines in the upper face, the outer edge of which is scalloped. Date: Late Medieval to Post Medieval- c.1400 - 1600 Dimensions: 67.69mm x 33.51mm x 3.24mm Weight: 18.82g These quillion guards can be dated to the 15th - 16th Century (Read 1996:83)

A cast tanged dagger or knife.The blade is double edged, tapering, with a central ridge producing a lozengiform profile, At the top is a broken tang with a single, circular attachment hole ( about 4 mm diameter). A cast copper alloy dagger guard (also known as a crossguard or quillons). The central plate is oval with a central rectangular aperture where the hilt of the blade would have passed. The arms are cast in the form of cherub-like figures with legs crossed (the heads at the terminals). The figures are cast in the round with details of the chest, belly, face and buttocks depicted and also with wings on their backs.
