A complete copper alloy Romano-British cosmetic pestle, from a small portable grinding set. A cresent-shaped rod with a large, integral central loop projecting from the upper edge of its concave side. The loop is U-shaped with a central circular aperture and is slightly inset to the rod, without a neck or shank. The rod has a rounded cross section and is slightly asymmetrical, with both ends tapering to a point.

A Late Iron Age to Roman copper-alloy cosmetic pestle. Plain, slightly concave sub-triangular shank tapering to a point at one end and curving under to form a loop with a rounded knop which is connected to the underside of the shank, at the other end. Smooth, mid-green patina, with small patches of bright green pitting in places.
