An silver shilling of Charles I (AD 1625 - 49), dating to AD1641-1643.  CAROLVS DG MAG BRI FR ET HIB REX obverse depicting sixth (Briot style) bust facing left, XII behind head.  CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO reverse depicting a square shield over short cross fleury.  Initial mark is probably a triangle in circle. Tower mint under Charles I.  Much of outer part of legend is missing probably due to clipping.  North (1991) p 160, no 2231. Diameter 28.9mm in diameter; thickness less than 1mm; 5.42g in weight
