A fragment from a copper-alloy medieval censer cover (c. 12th century, possibly late 11th century). It represents the broken top of such a lid which would have been in a moulded, 'architectural' form: a building, probably a church. The object appears to be have a curved base. In the centre above this rise two short straight sides which are then angled to sharply towards each other to create a flat cover.
