A copper-alloy post-medieval hexagonal button with a flat top and faceted sides which become vertical at the base. The top is decorated with a central flower motif of four small circles in a quatrefoil within a plain ring. From this central motif radiate six pairs of grooved lines which flank the angles between the facets and create lines along the sides of each facet. Circling the flat top, pairs of lines set at right angles to the radiating lines form an 'inner circle'. In the central cell of each facet is a scrolled motif of stamped Cs and annulets. An incomplete Post Medieval copper alloy hollow, domed button with a cast front and central pellet. The decoration over the dome is carved with eight grooved lozenge shapes with groups of transverse lines between with a central circle. The back is missing.

An incomplete copper alloy one piece button. The front is circular and slightly domed. The rear is slightly concave. At the centre of the rear is the stub of an integral loop. There is iron corrosion around the loop. The front is decorated with incised line consisting of a framing outer line, two concentric circles at the centre with diagonal radiating lines between them.

A lead zoomorphic button, of medieval or post-medieval period. The front is decorated in the shape of an animal head, possibly a lion, with prominent snout surrounded by what it seems to be a thick mane.
The animal's face is defined by two big brows that frame the eyes and reach the nose. The wide snout fiils completely the lower part of the head. The external edge of the object is decorated with a set of grooves and ridges which create a sort of mane or hair. A solid cast biconvex button from the medieval to early post-Medieval periods,c.1230-c.1550.The copper-alloy wire loop survives in situ (embedded) and the button's head appears to have a high tin content. It measures 9.55 mm in diameter, and weighs 2.616 grams.

An incomplete lead tin alloy button. A composite, discoidal,two-piece button with a solid convex front and a broken separate iron shank. There is a slight knop at the centre of the convex front. The rear is flat. Only a stub of the shank remains at the rear.

Post medieval lead-alloy button dating to the period c. AD 1600 - 1800. The button is circular in shape. It has a concave obverse and a flat reverse. It exhibits an incised design on the obverse of an incised circumferential groove within which is an incised cinquefoil flower with a triangular leaf projecting between each petal. In the centre of the flower is a circular groove with an incised dot at the centre. On the reverse there is an incomplete iron shank which terminates in an old break.

A copper alloy composite button. The front is convex, the back is flat. The front is decorated with a cast sesign of an octofoil with a smaller octofoil at the centre. Around this is a raised framing band. At the edge is a raised rim. At the back is a separate drawn wire loop with iron corrosion around it.

A copper alloy single piece button. The front is convex, the back concave. The front is decorated with stamped ring-and-dot and crescent marks. At the centre is a cinquefoil of ring-and-dot stamps with a ring-and-dot at the centre. Around this, flling the rest of the field, are stamped crescents. At the centre of the the back is an integral rectangular tab with a circualr hole. Through this is a corroded piece of circular sectioned iron wire.

An incomplete copper-alloybutton of post-Medieval date (circa 1600-1720).
The hollow button has been constructed from two joined pieces and resembles an acorn within its cupule.

A Post Medieval copper alloy button, probably of 18th century date. The button is circular in plan and is highly decorated with traces of a silver colour which may be due to silvering or tinning the surface. The front is decorated with a sunburst pattern arranged around a central plain circle. The button appears to have been stamped from the back, creating a series of small raised domes around the circumference. At the apex of each dome is a small circular perforation. A Post Medieval cast copper alloy button. The button is circular in plan with a diameter of 23mm. The front surface is slightly concave and undecorated. The back face is slightly convex and has an integral attachment loop at the centre. The loop is D-shaped in plan with a circular perforation at the centre. The style of the attachment loop suggests that it may be of 17th century date- see Bailey (2004) p 37, figure 8 for similar examples.

An incomplete silver and gem-set button. A small circular button with a separately applied loop attachment at the back. The loop has become detached and the button is now in two main pieces there is a circular recess at the centre of the button which may possibly have held a gemstone. A cast copper alloy button. A shallow biconvex two piece button. The button is sub circular with a raised dot in the centre. The surface at the front is smooth and well finished. At the back, the surface is rougher and has an off centre wire loop attached. The loop is of circular sectioned copper alloy wire. The metal of the button is grey in colour, suggesting some tin content. Such buttons are often made of a form of copper alloy called tombac.

Post Medieval composite sheet copper-alloy button. The front and back are made of two pieces of copper alloy sheet soldered together, the separate copper alloy wire shank is missing.
