Half of a lead medieval papal bulla probably dating to c. AD 1187-1404. There is less than half remaining but the bulla was originally circular and flat with a hole down the middle for the cord. It has broken along this hole, presumably when it was removed from the document. The obverse with the papal name within a pellet border only has a small section of inscription left. It reads [...]/[...NS or US / [...]III. . A cast lead papal bulla probably of Pope Innocent IV (in office 1243-1254). The obverse is very worn, but the faces of St. Paul and St. Peter with the inscription SPA above Paul and SPE above Peter, within a border of small pellets, a cross pattee between them can be identified. The reverse has the legend inscribed which reads INNO/CENTIVS/PP I[V] in three lines, is visible. The bulla has a cream coloured patina. Both faces are worn and marked. Faintly visible on the front is the usual depiction of the faces of St Peter and St Paul and traces of the legend S'PA S'PE, all within a beaded border. On the back is the inscription INNO/CENTIVS/P'P [---?], again within a beaded border. Both faces are worn and marked. These were attached to official papal documents. A medieval lead papal bulla of pope Boniface VIII (1294-1303). The obverse has the usual images of saints Peter and Paul in pelleted aureoles, although the expected abbreviated lettering; SPA SPE is badly damaged and illegible. The reverse bears the inscription BONI [F]AT[I]VS PP VIII.

About half of a cast lead papal bulla. The surviving part measures 38.2mm in diameter, 21.1mm in width, it is 4.2mm thick and weighs 28.5g. The obverse shows St Paul, with the inscription S'PA above. What is left of the reverse inscription, [---]E/[---]IV[-]/[---]IIII, suggests that the bull was issued under Pope Gregory IX (1227-41).

Lead seal. Ducal bulla of Marc Antonio Giustiani, doge of Venice. Sub-circular with cast designs and inscriptions. Moulded so that there is a hole through longitudinally for attachment to a document. The seal has split along the line of this channel. OBV:[M A IUSTINIANVS] DVX [S M VENE]- scene of doge's investiture by Pope. Inscription reads clockwise for the first half, anti-clockwise the second. DVX reads down vertically at 12.00. REV: Legend in five lines: M ANTON (rose and two other flowers above) [I]VSTINIANVS. [D]EI GRA DVX. [V]ENETIAR. ET C.
