An incomplete late early-medieval (late Anglo-Saxon) to medieval copper-alloy cloisonné enamelled disc brooch (late 10th - 11th century), of the Saunderton type (Weetch Type 20.A). The brooch is constructed from a base-plate of copper alloy originally with seven equidistant rounded projections; three have been snapped off completely, with only four surviving, non consecutively. A circular copper-alloy collar has been soldered onto this base plate and set within the collar is the cloisonné enamel pattern. The wings are short with integral pierced end caps to house the axis bar of the sprung pin mechanism.The wings and end caps form a rounded box to contain the spring. The axis bar would have passed through a circular aperture in the rearward lug which projects from behind the middle of the wings. An incomplete copper alloy plate brooch of the Hattatt's 'Tutulus' type dating to the second century AD. The brooch is umbonate with six rounded recessed lugs spaced evenly around its outside edge. A complete miniature silver annular brooch.The frame is circular and has a circular cross section. There is a constriction at one side to accommodate the separate pin.
