An incomplete Hod Hill brooch made from copper alloy. The head and partial bow survive. At the head are the folded wings which housed the axis bar for a missing hinged pin mechanism. There are traces of iron corrosion, possibly from an iron axis bar. The incomplete bow is decorated with a wide longitudinal groove flanked by raised edges. At the sides are a series of small copper alloy projections, similar to the side projections seen on Bagendon type brooches. A copper-alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 5.b4, flat wing ends type, Western Group), dated AD 70-120. The brooch is of cast construction with pierced end plates on the wings to secure the axis bar of the spring, and a rearward facing hook (missing) to retain the cord. The bow has a short medium ridge with a single oblique rib on either side. The wings have a single ribbed moulding. The spring with integral pin, foot and catchplate are missing. The brooch has a olive green patina. Length of brooch: 22.29 mm. Width at wings: 24.40 mm

A Roman copper-alloy disc brooch from the late-1st century to 2nd century AD. The brooch is circular and its front displays a five pointed star with knops to each point; these appear to be picked out in red enamel and the background with blue enamel. Only traces of the enamel remain. The side of the star or flower incurve. At its centre is a circle of metal with the field around it devoid of enamel.
