Silver sixpence of William III (1696) made into a pendant and later a brooch. The original silver sixpence is in slightly worn condition. At the crown there is a small deposit of solder visible on both the obverse and reverse of the coin. This suggests that the solder fills a small hole that had previously served to suspend the coin around the owners neck as a pendant. At the same time that the suspension hole was filled, a hinged pin and loop were soldered to the reverse of the coin to convert it into a brooch. The pin is now missing.
