Base fragment of a large cast copper alloy bell which has broken along the slit between two circular holes, producing a 'dumbbell' shape in plan, with half of one of those holes still extant. Above the slit is an incised linear border and part of the semi-circular 'sun', around the maker's initial 'R' with an annulet on either side, with linear rays emanating from it, decorating part of this half of the sphere. Cast copper alloy spherical bell with a very worn 'sunburst' pattern decorating the lower part. The pattern consists of ten incised petals, 25 mm long and 9 mm wide (central petal), with medial lines that radiate from the edge of the slit at the base of the bell, with five on each side. There is a central raised rib which divides the upper and lower halves of the bell.
