A small bead. The metal appears to be silver. The bead is hollow and globular, slightly flattened at the top and bottom. There is an off-centre sub-circular aperture on the top and bottom faces. The bead is undecorated. Not closely datable. Dimensions: 6.19 mm x 4.88 mm Weight: 0.24 g This item lacks diagnostic features making it impossible to securely date it. It therefore cannot be said to be over 300 years old and therefore should not be considered Treasure under the terms of the Treasure Act 1996

A complete copper alloy bead of uncertain date, probably Bronze Age to Roman c.AD 43 - 410. The bead is sub-biconical with a central perforation through the centre. A series of striations are present around the perimeter, close to the apex. Similar beads on the database include ESS-975247, SUR-131CBB, ASHM-377F8C, LEIC-3641F5, SOM-DA2D9C although these have a slightly more pronounced conical shape than this example. These examples range in date from Bronze Age to Roman, and therefore a wide date range is suggested for this example. The bead measures 9.6mm in diameter, 4.7mm …

Gold bead A complete gold collared bead. The bead is broadly a cylinder shape formed of gold sheet. This has a section at its middle where its is mostly flat above and below which it narrows in a smooth convex arch. Each curve ends, and so preventing the bead becoming spherical in shape with a collared terminal. Each collar is made of a gold wire curved into a spiral that complete two rotations. The bead has several dents along its circumference at its mid point but is otherwise undamaged. Scientific Analysis carried out by the British Museum’s Department of Scientific Resear…

The bead resembles 'melon' beads more commonly of glass. cf. other copper alloy examples such as GLO-0A5A53, BH-78AF33.

A semi-translucent turquoisey cobalt blue coloured glass bead of an an uncertain date. It has a globular shape with a large off centre circular perforation measuring 3.89mm in diameter. The bead has a D-shaped cross section and the internal structure displays numerous small bubbles. Glass beads are very difficult to date with any certainty without contextual evidence and the lack of clear diagnostic features on this example means that it is not possible to date this bead any more closely than Roman through to Medieval. Compare CORN-30641A which is very similar. Diameter: 8.98mm. Thi…

Around the central area there are three shapes trailed out in a bright yellow colour, spaced at regular intervals, the first is a circle, the second a back to front number 6 (or if viewed upside-down a lower case e) then another circle, all crudely applied then marvered. The central circular piercing is fairly cen…
