Small decorated fragment of the body of a Roman Samian Ware vessel, probably of East Gaulish manufacture, dating to the mid first to second century AD. The decoration consists of a raised curve, with a smaller curve above it to the right, followed by a strip containing an ovolo design above this. The shallow curve of the fragment suggests it probably once belonged to a bowel or similar vessel, but the form of this is difficult to determine. Mid orange colour with reddish-orange slip. Length: 51.0mm, Width: 36.9mm, Thickness: 4.7mm Weight: 7.0g

Small decorated fragment of the body of a Roman Samian Ware vessel, probably of East Gaulish manufacture, dating to the mid 1st to 2nd century AD. The decoration consists of a central raised band, with a raised line of dots on either side. Either side of this are a series of dotted, dashed and straight lines, which would have formed part of a larger pattern. The shallow curve of the fragment suggests it probably once belonged to a bowl or similar vessel, but the form of this is difficult to determine. Small fragment of the base of a Roman Samian Ware vessel, probably of East Gaulish manufacture, dating to the mid 1st to 2nd century AD. The fragment consists of a portion of the small base upon which the vessel would have stood, along with part of the base itself. Given the small size of the fragment it is difficult to determine what kind of vessel it came from. The fabric of the vessel is mid orange colour with reddish-orange slip. One small sherd of medieval pottery. Externally glazed earthernware. The fabric is greyish-white with abundant sand temper. The exterior surface has been decorated with an applied thin circular blob of clay which has then been stamped with a large ring and dot motif. The decoration is of a darker grey with some red oxidisation. Over the top of the decoration and the rest of the sherd there is a thin coating of light green glaze. At thin walled sherd, most likely a sherd from a jug as these are the most commonly decorated and glazed vessels. Probably a product of the East Dorset industr…
