The other face has hatching in the lower part of the round surmounted by a line of small pellets and a scene with stylised tree in the centre. The rest is confused.
Dimensions: 49mm in height; 35.2mm in width; 6.8mm thick; 41.37g in weight
See WILT-7044CC re the design with tree.
Ampullae were popular with pilgrims from the later 12th century to the 14th century after which point they became increasingly replaced by pilgrim badges. Unlike the badges, which were normally worn on the hat, ampullae were suspended on a chain or chord and worn around the neck (Spencer,1990,58).

One face of the flask body has wide moulded ridges in a scallop-shell motif. These ridges end at the rounded edge and do not extend into a crimped edge. The neck, mouth and any suspension loops are missing to an old break. The other main face is dominated by a design of a square-topped shield. The shield is divided by a horizontal line, per fess, with nothing in chief. In base there is a capital I. Above the shield is a horizontal line, joined to the top of the shield by two vertical, possibly the remains of a crown design, although this is unclear due to the break.
Measurements: 38 mm in length, 32 mm in width and 34.00 g in weight.
The crowned I design has not been assigned to a particular shrine but is found across a wide area. Spencer (1990, 62, 91) recognises a range of options for this design with no clear identification. Options, he suggests, include Our Lady of Ipswich or St Ives as her cult at Ramsey Abbey (Hunts.) was partly based on the repute of thaumaturgic water. Further west, the many shrines to St John and the shrine to St James at Reading Abbey, where his hand was the principal relic, are all options. Spencer suggests that the identification of 'I' with Jesus (as suggested by Bailey (1997, 17)) is unlikely to be true (Spencer 1990, 62, 91).
This example appears similar to some found in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and this clustering may suggest a southern shrine: IOW-1B89A0, HAMP1986, IOW-7AF845. Eastern examples appear to more commonly combine the crowned I with a daisy wheel design.Ampullae were designed to hold small amounts of holy water or oil and to be worn or carried by suspension from the loops. They are known from the late 12th century until early 16th century but were generally superceded by the popularity of pilgrim badges in the early 14th century.IAnderson type Ib.12936117015304DEV2022-12-27T00:00:00Z2022-12-27T00:00:00ZSCC receipt 233242023-02-08T16:08:02Z2023-04-03T10:49:06Z34PAS63E3C8E2001AD83238125121141427143621438014363DorsetPurbeckAffpuddle and TurnerspuddleSY839350.73636025-2.24226555bands.shops.handy6DEV-3C94F5Lead Alloy11095CastIncompleteMEDIEVALx14221POST MEDIEVALx41047x14221Metal detectorReturned to finderDEV3C8E2Aampulla.jpg1214731images/rwebley2/South WestCertain12023-04-03T09:49:06.037Zfinds-10952651095265DOR-BBEDCAAMPULLAMEDIEVALA complete lead ampulla. AD 1500-1850.
The flat token is uniface with a raised rim and one side decorated with a capital initial 'J'. A triangular cluster of three pellets surround the letter at each of the four cardinal points. The token is creamy white in colour
Measurements: diameter 23.57mm, thickness 3.46mm, weight 9.89g.
Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses such as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets, weights, etc. and are believed to have been locally produced; they are therefore difficult to date precisely. This type fits into Powell classification type 2 (initials). Those carrying initials are generally deemed to be post-Medieval in date (1500-1850). Octagonal tokens are less common and examples recorded on the database include: SOM-580D69; WAW-7D4E47 and PUBLIC-60AB9D. Examples with the letter J and pellets include: DENO-60D141, PUBLIC-860CFE and PUBLIC-53CD32.Powell type 23636150018504SUSS2022-02-28T12:28:13Z2022-03-21T11:40:34Z9.89PAS621CBFDD0014E123.573.461251411143621434614451DorsetNorth DorsetTarrant KeynestonSU043951.15024621-1.94419153bands.shops.handy10SUSS-CC08C2Lead Alloy11095CastCompletePOST MEDIEVALx41047POST MEDIEVALx41047x41047Metal detectorReturned to finderSUSSCBFDD5.jpg1173512images/janeclark68s/Certain12022-10-19T09:37:34.029ZDorset100CountyROMAN1Metal detectorSUR69230B.jpg1436220218114490111019RO22DistrictCertain4SUR1445153.4410Pulhamx41218442.21North Dorset110952022-01-19T09:24:35ZReturned to finderSouth WestCirca
A flat discoidal lead alloy cast Roman steelyard weight of 442.21g (approximately 16 Roman uncia (ounces)). Two stumps of an iron loop are visible, cast into the weight and showing on both faces, slightly off centre. On one side these stumps have splayed ends suggesting that the loop was formed from a U-shaped piece of metal.

An incomplete solid cast lead alloy button with missing solderd wire shank. The4 button is bi-convex and the front is decorated with incised lines forming a double-strand triangular frame around cross hatching of three triangles, transversly in-filling the points of the frame and leaving a void in the centre. There is a double stranded chevron incised at the mid point eacj of the outer edges of the frame. The rear of the button is undecorated and retains traces of a possibly copper alloy loop with a blob of solder.
Date: Post Medieval - c. 17th to 18th century
Dimensions: 11.76 mm x 9.33 mm
Weight: 5.12 g
The decorating on the front of the button is similar to that seen on several examples on the PAS database (e.g.SOM-84F3CE, HAMP-CF4C4B, HAMP-CED983) and illustrated in Read (2008) p.93 & 94, 380-384, However, this example is solid cast, rather than being comprosed of two hemispheres soldered together.
