The bit and stem are in line. The key displays some corrosion, and if there originally was any decoration on the stem or bow, it is no longer visible. The object is covered with corrosion products. An iron double oval Post-Medieval buckle. The frame has a slightly recessed central strap bar. The pin remains in situ, although its tip is now missing. Iron spearhead of probably late Medieval date. The blade is complete and a broad leaf shape with convex curved sides widening evenly form the point to the rounded base of the blade. A rounded rib runs from the socket about half way along the length of the blade on both sides; the ribs thicken towards the base but appear solid. The blade is otherwise flat and even in thickness. Due to the level of corrosion it is hard to identify the width of the sharpened edges, if any. The socket is conical and tapering, continuing the line of the ribs but only hollow until it meets the blade. The en…

A forged iron latch which is probably from a door or window. The latch has been hand forged from a rectangular bar which would have been approximately 14 mm x 7 mm in section. The roundel has been hammered out and has a tapered profile. The attachment end has a circular loop hole of c.10mm diameter which was probably made using a punch. The downturned hook end has been drawn to a point, with a single hammer blow to create the swan neck. As this was found with two other similar latches and other iron work it is probable that this is of local manufacture. The site also has evidence of…

The roundel has been hammered out very thinly and has a tapered profile. The loop end has a circular 10 mm hole and the metal is waisted at this point, suggesting a punch was used. Much of the hook end is missing, but the remaining portion shows the bar was narrowed and probably drawn to a point. Dimensions are: Length 102 mm, Diameter of roundel 57.5, Weight 54 grams.
