A large iron key. The bow is kidney-shaped with a point on the outer edge. The shank is rectangular in cross-section and widens slightly towards the ward, The pin is narrowed from the main part of the shank and tapers to a point. The ward is rectangular with a slightly asymmetrical cross-shaped central cleft. The iron is corroded. Similar to an example illustrated in Egan, G 1998, "The Medieval Household", page 118, number 327 which is further identified as a Ward Perkins 1940, type VII.

Wrought iron oxshoe, probably of medieval, post-medieval or early modern date. The shoe is complete even though it is only 'half' a shoe: it was for one half of the ox's cloven hoof. Iron oxshoes are very difficult to date as they did not change much through the ages.

Incomplete Roman iron hipposandal (a type of horseshoe). The hooked heel only remains. The plate has incurved sides with the remnants of one flared wing at one side. At the back the plate curves upwards into a flared, convex heel plate with an incomplete backward projecting hook at the mid point of the upper edge. the hook is tapering and square sectioned. Probably an Aubert/Manning type 1. A wrought latchlifter of medieval date, which is attached to a copper alloy ring (SOMDOR-98BF43), along with a padlock key (SOMDOR-986144). The latchlifter has a long, circular sectioned shank with a splayed head which narrows into a backward loop for attachment to the copper alloy ring. At the other end, the bit is rectangular sectioned and is bent up and forwards at a right angle to the shank. It then turns twice at right angles back towards the shank. Dimensions: 186.20mm x 28.53mm x 30.30mm. Weight 94.63g.

A wrought iron key of medieval date, which is attached to a copper alloy ring (SOMDOR-98BF43), along with a latchlifter (SOMDOR-988E62). The key has a long, flat, rectangular sectioned shank with a splayed head. This narrows into a backward loop for attachment to the copper alloy ring. At the other end, the bit projects forwards at a right angle to the shank. The wards form a broken cross in the centre of the bit (the opening is at the front). Dimensions: 174.20mm x 30.02mm x 28.79mm. Weight 72.50g.
