A fragment of a Roman base silver finger ring. All that remains is half of the bezel of the and one rounded shoulders. The bezel is oval in shape and has a recess to accommodate an intaglio. It tapers into a rounded shoulder. It tapers into a narrow band. The shoulder and band are D-shaped in cross section. The surface of the ring is smooth and worn. The surface colour is patchily grey and brown indicating base silver. Date: Roman - c. The coins consist of 11 South Western British uninscribed silver staters commonly associated with the Durotriges, a people thought to have inhabited an area covering the modern county of Dorset, parts of Somerset, Wiltshire and Hampshire and the Isle of Wight during the late Iron Age. The silver coins appear to be all of the type ABC 2169 / VA 1235-1 / BMC 2555ff produced from about 60/50 BC to the late first century BC.
