A fragment of Late Iron Age to early Roman copper alloy brooch, probably dating from AD 25-75. A hinged strip bow brooch, with only its head and upper bow remaining. The head of the brooch is damaged, but originally consisted of a rectangular sheet of copper alloy rolled under itself to form the wings for a lost axis bar; the right wing has been lost whilst the left is now broken at the fold. A rectangular slot was cut into the reverse of the head to accommodate a hinged pin, which is lost. From the head the bow tapers into an old break. The upper bow is decorated with a recessed chann…
