An incomplete ground greenstone axehead. A triangular axehead with flattened sides. The cutting edge is convex and slightly offcentre. The axehead tapers to the broken butt. One face remains convex, the other has been damaged. The cross section is sub-lenticular. The surface has been pecked and ground and is slightly pitted as a result of weathering. A tertiary flake of Portland chert. Dark grey opaque chert with a low-gloss patina. The proximal end has a small striking platform and there is a well defined, small bulb of percussion with bulbar scar on the ventral face. The waves of percussion are visible on the ventral face. There are numerous parallel flake removals, in two directions of working, on the dorsal face which are indicative of blade production. The flake is from a core with two opposing platforms. The force of the hard hammer or indirect strike has twisted at the distal end, plunging along the lip of the opposed platfo…

An incomplete Neolithic (3500-2100 BC) polished flint adze or axehead, with an asymmetric section, measuring 80.26x51.81x26.40mm and weighing 98.72g. The flint is heavily patinated and an off-white in colour, with a brighter white showing through the flake removal scars. In shape the axehead has a curved cutting edge (51.81mm wide) and one steeply angled surviving edge (the other is missing), so it looks rather triangular in shape and probably was originally not much long than it is now. In cross-section, the axehead is D-shaped, having a pronounced curve to one face while the other…

A possible Mesolithic-Early Bronze Age fabricator tool. The object is long and narrow, although relatively thick, with steep re-worked edges. The distal end has been finely worked into a curve, possibly to enable the careful application of pressure to the edges of flint flakes. The flint has a very well developed greyish white patina except at the proximal end where damage has revealed the dark-blue colour of the flint beneath. The tool measures 79.55mm long, 23.11mm wide at the distal end, tapering to 13.07mm wide at the proximal end, 12.55mm thick and weighs 32.64g.
