A pyramid-shaped single platform core dating from the late Mesolithic period (6,000 BC) to early Neolithic period (3000 BC). There are approximately nine flake removals. A small area of cortex remains at the distal end. The core colour is banded from dark brown to a milky white with a silky smooth patina. The flint has a major flaw to one side which has probably rendered the core unsuitable for further flake removal. Dimensions are; Length 46.86 mm. Width 39.02 mm. Weight 52 grams. An incomplete flint axehead of Mesolithic date., The butt appears to have been broken off in antiquity. The tip and one edge appear to have suffered recent damage, the opposite edge has numerous small flaking scars which appear to be retouching. There is evidence of several transverse flakes being removed from one edge and these are highlighted with iron staining to the ridges of each one. It is roughly oval in cross section with one face having a slight central ridge. It is patinated to a semi matt pale grey colour to one face the other face is dark brown with less siliceous patches.…

An incomplete flint axe. A large tranchet axe of the Mesolithic. The cutting edge and part of the body of the axe only remains, the butt having been broken off in antiquity. It is made from pale mid grey and grey brown flint with less siliceous patches and bands. It is patinated to a matt, pale grey colour with some iron staining. There are numerous flaking scars on all the surfaces, with several transverse flakes removed from one edge and resulting in an off-centre ridge along the length of the axe. The body of the axe has an irregular triangular cross section which, as the axe is sh…

A flint waste flake. A tertiary waste flake of mid grey flint with dark grey speckles. It has a mid-gloss patina. There is a triangular striking platform, low bulb of percussion and waves of percussion on the ventral face.. There is some slight denticulation around the edges, but ist is not clear if this is deliberate of the result of damage. There are two flaking scars and a pronounced inter-scar ridge on the dorsal face. The flake is very small and is most likely to be from Mesolithic or early Neolithic bladelet manufacture (pers. comm.
