Postmedieval foreign coin. A silver soldino minted in Venice between the years 1501- 1521 AD. The soldino depicts the doge Leonardo Loredan (1501-1521). Soldini were minted in Venice, and known as galyhalpens (galley-halfpence) because they were often brought into Britian by Venetian trading fleets. Two Roman silver denarii. As the coins are both silver and were found together, they are considered potential treasure. Coin 1: a denarius of the emperor Geta as Caesar (198 - 209 AD), RIC Volume IV, part I, page 316 number 18. A similar reverse is illustrated in RIC VI, plate XIV, number 13. Rome mint 200 - 202 AD. Coin 2: illegible denarius, probably dating to the late second or early third century AD. Diameter c.16mm; Thickness: 1.93mm; Weight 1.11g. Both the coins are chipped.
