A silver Medieval Edwardian penny of Edward I (1272-1307) or Edward II (1307-27), probably Class 10cf, mint: Canterbury. Ref: North 1994: 32; Withers and Withers 2006: 36-7. The coin is very worn and clipped with legends mostly illegible. The face and crown appear to belong to Class 10, probably 10cf. Obverse; Crowned bust facing forward. Reverse; Long cross breaking legend with three pellets in each quarter. Weight 0.63 grams, Diameter 15.51mm.

An almost complete flan of a Long Cross penny, though missing an outer section (probably broken in antiquity) between six and eight o'clock when seen from the obverse. The Obverse inscription reads: EDW R ANG(L ..DNS.) HYB. A cross pattée precedes the 'E'. There is a front facing bust of the king with a trifoliate crown, The bust displays almond-shaped eyes with two curls to the left of the portrait and three to the right, There is a rose on the king's breast. This combination suggests Class 7A or 7B (issued 1294 to 1296). The Reverse inscription is less clear, though CIVI(TAS....…
