A copper alloy possible mount of Post Medieval to Modern date c. 1500 - 1900.
The mount is oval shaped with a rounded knop at the top and opposite sides. The mount depicts Henry VIII and is oval shaped, with an inscription border partially readable 'RIC VS ...'. The inscription is seperated from the bust by a bead rim border, while the whole decorative design protrudes out from the mount. The design is worn in parts but overall condition is good. The reverse of the mount is smooth with one possible rivet towards the bottom of the mount, slightly off centre.

An incomplete silver mount of post-medieval date (c. 18th century). As well as having received numerous circumferential losses the edge has also been bent at one point. It was originally stud like, consisting of a broadly circular, flat head attached to a separate stem for attachment, the latter possibly of base metal. A rectangular scar from the stem is visible at the centre of the reverse. On similar mounts the circumference is clearly scalloped; this disc is either rather worn or was originally smooth. There are small punch marks in the spandrels between each lob…

An unusual porcine fitting of the insular La Tène tradition, probably dating from the 1st century BC to 1st century AD. It is possible this fitting is for a vessel, but it is so far unparalleled in type. There are two other ‘head’ fittings known (OXON-6E3722 and HESH-06696B), but they are very different in design, and this find does not appear to be related to them.
The lack of the portrayal of tusks, a hint of a dorsal ridge and large, pointed, forward facing ears are not definitive enough to label this example a wild boar, and so it is classed as a porcine of mix…

A seemingly complete, corroded cast copper-alloy mount, probably a strap fitting, dating c. AD 1400-1700.
The mount is flat and quatrefoil/lozenge-shaped. At the centre of the reverse is a short integral spike. The spike is square in cross-section and tapers evenly to a point. The front appears to have an irregular pitted pattern but this could be a design choice or from corrosion. This mount is generally worn and is mainly covered with a light green patina.
Measurements: 22 mm in length, 13 mm in width and 1.00 g in weight.

An incomplete copper alloy mount dating to the early medieval period, c. AD 1000-1100.
The mount is petite and incomplete, comprising an openwork area of a larger zoomorphic mount, possibly from harness or for decoration. There are two circular apertures at the lower part of the broader tongue-shaped mount, which also has a small proturbation extending from it which is pointed oval in shape and may be intended to represent an ear. There are then two small extending prongs above the apertures which give a slightly bovine appearance. The upper surface of the mount is decorated wit…

A cast copper alloy mount, possibly a furniture mount or decorative household item, in the shape of a bird, dating from AD 1650-1800.
The mount is formed in the shape of a bird, with an elongated S-shape forming the bird's body. It has three curled frills which extend backwards from the neck, and one of these also extends forwards. They may represent the plumes or feathers of a game bird, or possibly the flames associated with a phoenix. There is a small collar below the last of these, and then an attachment point, which suggests it was attached to a broader terminal beneath. Fu…

An incomplete post medieval copper alloy mount dating to c. AD 1600-1700.
The mount comprises a trefoliate terminal which narrows and then flares outward once again. The upper perimeter is slightly damaged, and it is unclear whether it is a finished or broken edge due to this damage. There is a small circular rivet in the upper part of the object, the point of attachment to a leather strap. The lower part of this rivet is now missing. The rivet lies within a decorative scheme, set in a lozenge with further swirling designs all around it.

A post medieval copper alloy mount dating to c. AD 1600-1700.
The mount is broadly circular, with a wavy edge, which gives it the impression of a solar disc or stylised sunflower with multiple petals. In the centre is a larger circle and a small raised central pellet. It is domed, with a stub of an attachment lug on the reverse.

An incomplete copper alloy mount dating to the early medieval period, c. 1000-1100 AD.
The object is fractured and broken at both its upper and lower terminals, with the central openwork panel surviving. The panel is formed of a central spine, which has two kidney shaped apertures below three slightly irregular apertures, and the remnants of a further three apertures above these. Although the surface is worn, there are suggestions of zoomorphic designs placed on the open work, with a possible boar figure at the top right, and a more feline type of beast in the centre a…

A fragment of a gilded copper alloy post medieval mount, possibly a piece of furniture inlay, dating from AD 1400-1700.
The fragment is slender and lozenge shaped in appearance, although it is roken just as the horizontal sides begin to taper. It has a fraye dedge which, combined with multiple small incised lines, gives a leaf or feather-like appearance. It is decorated with a further inner scheme of intertwined flowers, set within a series of bands created by sharply undulating triangular zigzags in a continuous line.

A post medieval decorative mount or fitting dating to the post medieval period, c. AD 1700-1850.
The mount is semi-circular, with an elaborate open work design focused on two fish entwined and facing outwards, each flanked by elaborate plants, possibly water lillies. There is a further botanical design which loops around to the fish tails, which are heart shaped. the faces of the fish are clearly marked, and the scales on their bodies are demarcated with multiple etched lines. An incomplete copper alloy mount in the shape of a spur rowel dating to the post medieval period, c. AD 1550-1700.
The object is a multifoil, or multi pointed star, formed of 16 points. Four of these are particularly elongated, placed in a cruciform, while a further four slightly elongated points form a saltire formation. Between the points of the star are wedge shaped grooves. At the centre is an aperture for attachment. The object is slightly hollowed on the reverse, which is plain and undecorated.

A complete copper alloy mount dating to the post medieval period, c. AD 1500-1650.
The mount is small and delicate, circular in plan with a waved edge around the perimeter. This is formed by a series of circular rosettes that ring the outer circumference, each one slightly floral in appearance with a boss like circular centre and a series of tiny dots placed in a surrounding ring. An incomplete copper alloy mount in the form of a bird dating to c. AD 1600-1800.
The mount is flattened in section, and carefully shaped into the form of a bird, apparently a bird of prey with a hooked beak. The tailfeathers are particularly defined, and the wings are hunched, as though the bird is in the act of mantling (crouching or hunching over prey). The feet with their long talons are attached to an extended branch, which would have been attached to the original object, which may have been a vessel, or may have been attached to a falconry related object, given the specific…

An incomplete copper alloy mount dating to c. AD 1500-1700.
The fragment consists of the central part of the mount, it is broken on the vertical edges and both curving horizontal edges are slightly frayed. From the surviving profile of the curve, it may have originally been oval in shape. The reverse is plain and undecorated, but the obverse is marked with punched decoration consisting of a ring and dot design which tracks the perimeter. Tiny vertical lines within the outer ring elaborate the decorative design.

A copper alloy medieval to post medieval strap or possibly a book mount, dating to c. AD 1450-1550.
The object is square in shape and flattened in cross section. There are three circular rivets, two of which are placed in the two upper corners of the mount, while the third is in the centre of the lower horizontal side. The surface is decorated with two letters composed of inscribed lines, which appear to form the letters I or L followed by a d.
The letters Id were used in medieval manuscripts to denote the Ides of the month, but this seems unlikely to be found on a strap fi…

Medieval, copper-alloy, large, circular mount depicting the white boar of Richard III, dating to the later 15th century (1470-1485). The mount is gilded, silvered and enamelled and consists of two parts: a decorated disc held in a separate circular frame which has integral rivets and separate roves.
The 63.4mm diameter disc has a slightly raised design of a boar walking left on an area of ground. Around this is an opaque red enamel background which ends before it meets the frame with the remainder gilded. There are areas of damage to this background particularly at 12 and 6 o'clo…

A complete, early medieval cast silver and gilt pyramidal mount, probably from a sword scabbard. The mount is in the form of a hollow truncated pyramid with a square base and a flat top. An integral rectangular bar runs transversely across the base, narrower in the centre due to wear. Each of the four faces is decorated with a design of three chip-carved interlocking triangles, filled with gilding and with an incised border, also filled with gilding. Viewed from above, the design resembles a four-pointed star. At the apex is a square empty cell, originally a setting for a gem or glass …

A post medieval copper alloy mount, dating to c. AD 1600-1750.
The mount is broadly tongue shaped, and flattened in cross section, however, the tongue is composed of two tapering extended ozenges which meet at a central sub-rectangular bar. The surface retains traces of possible silvering on both faces. It is broken at one terminal, and further cracked approximately 10mm down from this break. There is a possible attachment point for a lug just at the break, but the characteristic second lug one would expect is missing.
