Both the form of the coin deposit, which was somewhat irregular and lozenge shaped in plan (largely filling the pit with little or no soil infill around it) and the pieces of fabric underlying the coins, suggest a container flexible enough to partially take the shape of the pit in which it was deposited; perhaps a fabric or soft leather bag. Iron fragments may be associated with this container.

Fragment of copper-alloy with dark green patina, roughly circular in section, tapering to a broken point at one end and sharply angled to a crude spatula at the other. There are a series of circular incised lines running around much of the circular shaft. The function of the original object to which this piece of metal originally belonged is unclear. Report by R Hobbs. Thought not to be associated though possibly Roman. L.: 44.5mm D.: 9mm

A lead object representing a snake (or similar creature). The object comprises an oval section loop of lead which has been deliberately moulded to depict a snake (or similar creature) biting its own tail. The motif of the snake consuming itself is common to many cultures. Although no direct parallels can be found for this object, it is not diagnostically Roman and cannot necessarily be associated with the coin hoard. L: 111g W: 44mm Th: 14mm report by P Walton. A corroded iron object, possibly a small knife, which cannot be identified further without x-ray. The object comprises a circular section stem with rectangular cut-out from which extends a corroded iron stub. However, even with x-ray this object is unlikely to be diagnostically Roman and cannot necessarily be associated with the coin hoard. report by P Walton. L: 85mm D: 12mm
