A complete iron socketed axehead dating to the early Iron Age (c. 800-600 BC). The axehead is sub-rectangular in plan with a socketed mouth, crescentic cutting blade and incomplete single side loop. The mouth is oval in shape and has a prominent collar around the edge. The mouth measures legnth: 46.5mm; width 38.1mm; thickness 4.8mm. Large iron buckle c1770-1790, with a possible tin-coating. The outer edges of the frame have a wavy, or scalloped, border. The main part of the frame appears to have originally been openwork, but these spaces are now filled with heavy iron corrosion. There is a separate spindle, also made of iron, and the remnants of a double tongue. The buckle is attracted to a magnet over the whole of its surface, suggesting a high iron content. An iron whittle tanged knife of Roman to Medieval date. The blade measures 93.02mm in length and the tang 13.17mm in length. The tang is incomplete. Each edge is slightly curved with the cutting edge measuring 1.28mm thick and the opposite edge measuring 2.07mm. The knife terminates with a rounded point. The surfaces of the object are uneven due to corrosion. It is mid-brown in colour. The form is of Manning's Roman Type 16, which he says is a long-live type.
