Object type: MOUNT
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: County of Herefordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A strap mount cast from copper alloy. The mount has a light green patina and shows areas on both the front and reverse of corrosion and pitting. On the front there are traces of a silvering or tinning, but this has been severly abraided and is now only visible in places. The mount is broadly of a sub-elongated triangle in plan. The edges have been abraided and rounded in the plough-soil causing the mount to become a-symetrical. The end tip of the mount (the tip of the triangle) is lentoid in plan, flaring then narrowing to a small shoulder, the body then flares again…

The only decoration on the head is a short rectangular cast rib and a moulded oval at the junction with the bow, in place of the headstud. The Bow is at a right angle to the he…
