An incomplete, copper alloy strap fitting of Post Medieval date (c. AD 1550-1800).
The object is a bar mount with terminal sub-oval lobes at either end. The object is plano-convex, with a domed front and a largely flat reverse, except for the stubs of integral attachment spikes at both the top and bottom of the object. The object is extremely worn, and so whilst it may appear that there are no obvious remnants of what were raised ribs on the central segment of the object, akin to those found on HAMP-5F6AA8, this does not preclude the object from having had them at some point…

A near complete, copper alloy strap fitting of Post Medieval date (c. AD 1500-1700).
There are two main sections of the object, with the first consisting of a sub-rectangular, plano-convex copper alloy sheet. This section measures 7.88mm wide near the top, gradually expanding to 10.35mm wide and 3.43mm thick, excluding the attachment shanks on the reverse. There are two shanks with oval cross-sections on the reverse, one shorter shank near the top of this section of the object (4.68mm long, 4.38mm wide) with a flat terminal, and a longer one near the bottom (4.48mm…

Cast copper alloy hooked strap fitting of probable post-medieval date (1500-1700). The fitting can be divided into two separate parts; the body and the hooked terminal. The body of the fitting is relatively flat with a sub-rectangular cross-section; whereas the hook is sub-triangular (D shaped). The hooked terminal has been formed by bending the upper part of the fitting back upon itself to form a U shaped hook. This hook is undecorated and tapers slightly along its length terminating in a broken edge. The upper part of the hook flares into the decorated body of the strap fitting. The…

A complete cast copper alloy 'S'-shaped belt hook or strap fitting of Post-Medieval, most probably 18th century date (AD 1550 - AD 1900). The two terminals are in the form of a snake or possibly swan heads - one is turned back to form a loop whilst the opposing is open forming the hook. The central part of the fitting has moulded decoration. This decoration is in the form of two circumferential transverse ribs flanked by acanthus like leaves. The bodies are covered with cast wedge shaped scales (or feathers). The fitting is a mid - green colour with an abraded slightly corroded patin…

A Post Medieval copper alloy mount with integral lugs, dating to the 17th century.
The mount is in the form of an acorn. The body of the mount is broadly oval shaped with a rounded upper edge. Projecting from the upper edge at a ninety degree angle is the stalk. There are two integrally-cast lugs for attachment at the reverse face of the mount. These are formed from a stem that is broad at the plate and then tapers to a sharp point. On the front face there are two horizontal incised lines across the body of the mount. There is a further horizontal incised line at the upper edge. …

Cast copper alloy strap fitting (belt mount) of probable post-medieval date (1500-1700). The strap fitting is a square shape in plan and rectangular in profile; the edges are bevelled. The upper surface may have had an incised and gilded design but that is lost due to surface corrosion. The reverse face of the fitting is flat with two cast sub-rectangular projections (hooks) which are both preserved and turned back upon themselves. These hooks would have passed through the leather strap and hold the fitting in place. The fitting is a mid greenish brown colour with an abraded worn pati…

The copper alloy fitting has an inverted triangular body, with rounded edges and a wide 'V' along the upper edge. The body has a circular rivet hole. In the rivet hole there is the traces of an iron rivet. The lower tip of the triangular body is narrowed before forming an integral hook by being curled towards the reverse.
The surface of the fitting has a mottled brown-green patina.
The strap fitting measures 30.72mm long and 12.45mm wide. It weighs 2.13g.

Cast copper alloy strap fitting (belt mount) of probable post-medieval date (1600-1700). The strap fitting is irregular in plan and domed (convex) in profile; the edges are bevelled / faceted. The overall decorative design consists of a debased fleur-de-lis which has been badly eroded. The petals of the flower are delineated by piercing and the mid band is cast. All the edges are eroded. There is no evidence of an applied surface on either the upper face or lower faces. The reverse face of the fitting is irregular but broadly flat and undecorated. Two cast sub-rectangular projections …

Cast copper alloy strap fitting of probable post-medieval date (1500-1700). The strap fitting is circular in plan and domed in profile. The front face is convex whilst the reverse is concave. The edges of the fitting are bevelled. The front face has been decorated with three concentric cast circles which are evenly spaced around a central circular boss. Three cast copper alloy mounts of probable late medieval or post medieval date (1400-1600). The mounts are sub-oval in plan and domed in cross section (D-shaped). The front faces are convex and undecorated. The reverse are concave. From a central position a small square sectioned spike projects on each stud; this terminates in a blunt tapered point. The mounts are dark mid green colour with a smooth shiny surface patina. The lengths of the spikes would suggest that the mounts were used either in furniture or through a relatively thick piece of leather, possibly on horse harness.

A cast copper alloy strap fitting often associated with spurs of late medieval or post medieval date (1400-1700). The fitting is composite; the body of the mount is irregular in plan and rectangular in section. The plate element is cast in one piece and the lower pointed terminal is bent back upon itself to form a hook. The hook itself is lost through a relatively modern break. The opposite end the oval plate is perforated and a there was likely once a single oval (mushroom) headed stud joined. Allowed the fitting to be fastened to a leather belt or strap. A cast copper alloy strap fitting (belt mount) of probable post-medieval date (1500-1700). The strap fitting is sub-rectangular with pointed terminals. On the lower face are four trunscated features which form a rectangle from each corner they are present. The fitting is a mid brown colour with a well formed surface patina . Similar examples of strap fittings can be seen in Brian Read's book 'Metal Artefacts of Antiquity' (pages 34-37).
The strap fitting measures 18.69mm in length, 5.84mm in width and 1.98mm in thickness and weighs 0.78 grams.

An incomplete copper alloy strap fitting, probably a sword belt mount, dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD 1500-1600). The plate is flat and is formed in the shape of a stylised large tapering oak leaf. It has a tri-lobed end, with a central rounded lobe and two more angular lobes adjacent to it. There is an attachment hole in the centre of the central lobe. Below the tri-lobe the fitting tapers in to a waist then expands outwards and gradually tapers in again before terminating in a worn break. The remnants of a moulded foliate and floriate design can be seen on the face of the…
