A decorated glazed sherd from a jug or similar serving vessel of later medieval date (1200 - 1450). The sherd is glazed on the exterior face with a mottled greenish yellow glaze which is evenly applied and well preserved. The glaze is flecked with a darker material and is textured. The fabric is very hard, with a mid grey coloured core and oxidised grey surface. The fabric is mica rich with sparse very small white (quartz?) black (coal?) and orange (tile / brick?) flecks within the matrix. The sherds measures 44.8mm length, 23.2mm width, is 6.2mm thick and weighs 6.59 grams.

Incomplete fragment of a clay tobacco pipe bowl of late post medieval date (c.1630-50). The fragment is broadly similar to David Atkinson's Broseley Type 1a (1630-40) classification. It is best described as having a small bulbous bowl and relatively small flat base which is marked with a star shaped stamp consisting of 12 radiating spokes / arms. This form of stamp is known on later pipes from North Herefordshire; for example record HESH-D84B96 from Ullingswick, Herefordshire dated c. 1670 -1690. A rim fragment of a wheelmade ceramic vessel. The rim is slightly bulbous and ‘n’ shaped in profile. The core and interior is a light grey and the exterior is a mottled grey/brown colour. The fabric has frequent, hard, angular, grey geological inclusions of varied size. The sherd weighs 14.48g. The fabric is probably Malvernian Ware dating to the 2nd to 4th centuries. A handle fragment of a ceramic vessel, possibly a jug. The handle is rectangular in plan, with both terminals being broken and it is curved in profile. The fabric is orange throughout and has frequent small white quartz inclusions. It is slightly micaceous. The exterior surface has traces of a red slip with traces of a mottled green/yellow glaze. A body fragment of a Post Medieval salt glazed vessel. The sherd is a body fragment which is decorated salt glaze forming a mottled red/brown and light yellow/green coloured surface. The surface also has remains of an applied handle which has been decorated with three finger indentations. The handle is missing. The fabric is a stone ware which has a fine grey core and pale surfaces. The fabric has been highly fired. The sherd is a fragment which has fresh breaks. The sherd weighs 96.4g. The style and decoration of the sherd suggests a late 16th to 18th century date.

The sherd is a rim fragment, probably of a jar. The sherd is made from Severn Valley Ware, which dates to early 2nd to 4th centuries (Webster, P 1976 ‘Severn Valley Ware: A Preliminary Study’ Transactions of the Bristol and Gloucestershire Archaeological Society Vol. 94). The fabric quite hard and has orange coloured surfaces with a mid grey coloured core. There are occasional small voids within the fabric, and occasional small red coloured inclusions. It is also micaceous. The sherd is slightly abraded, and weighs 40.3g.

Three fragments of possible ceramic building material. All three fragments are relatively robust and may possibly come from some form of vessel, however from the shapes of the pieces it is more likely that they are fired remnants of wattle and daub walls (being the daub part). The reasons for this are the organic burnt out inclusions and also the series of very shallow U shaped sectioned hollows; these may correspond with the wattle hurdles in a wall. Two gaming counter formed from fired pipe clay of probable later post medieval date (1650 - 1800). Both counters have similar fabrics being an off white / buff colour with sparse mica inclusions. Both examples have a burnished surface although one has suffered significant abrasion / lamination.
