Cast lead or lead alloy irregular bi-convex spindle whorl of Roman to Post Medieval date (1 – 1650 AD (probably Medieval 1300-1500). The spindle whorl is sub-circular in plan. The central hole is broadly circular and has been cast / set slightly off centre. The diameter of the hole measures 9.3mm. The whorl measures 23.6mm diameter, is 11.6mm thick, and weighs 25.59 grams. An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, West Midlands) of AD 80-120. The wings are incomplete being semi-cylindrical in plan with pierced end caps, these are now much abraded. The axis bar, spring and pin are lost. An irregular sub-rectangular hollow is present on the reverse of the head of the brooch and does not extend into the wings; this is filled with a grey brown coloured substance, possibly an adhesive paste to hold the pin / spring. A large broken fragment of roof tile of possible Roman date (50 – 400 AD). The tile is broadly sub-rectangular in plan with three broken edges, and one original edge. The upper edge of the tile is raised. The tile is similar to that known from Roman roofs and is usually called tegula a flat rectangular tile with one raised edge over which a curved imbrex is placed. An incomplete cast copper alloy Colchester derivative (Dolphin style) brooch of Roman date (43-120AD). The wings are incomplete but originally were semi-cylindrical with pierced end caps. The axis bar, spring and pin are lost. A sub-rectangular hollow is present on the reverse of the head of the brooch and does not extend into the wings; this is filled with a brown iron corrosion. The pin / spring would have been secured by an external chord which fitted to a transverse groove running along the rearward edge of the head.
