Coin is extremely worn and appears to have been bent into and S-shape. Coins with such a double bend are not uncommon finds but their significance is not fully understood. According to Dr Kevin Leahy such 'Love tokens' were made using coins dating from the time of Elizabeth I (1558-1603) to the reign of Ann (1702-1714) with some Georgian examples. A Post-Medieval silver half groat of Elizabeth I (AD 1548-1603) dating to 1602.
Third issue (North 2016). Mintmark: 2. London mint. North (1991:137).
Obverse: [E D G ROSA S]IN[E SP]INA. Crowned bust left with two pellets behind.
Reverse: [CIVITAS LON]DON. Square shield on cross fourchee.Mintmark 2.
The obverse is worn with pitting to surface on bust and area below the two pellets. Only one of the two pellets is clearly visible.
The reverse is worn with only the DON inscription clearly legible.

A very worn, cut Medieval silver halfpenny, likely from the reign of Henry III (AD 1216-1272). Potentially Class7 short cross penny dating AD 1217-1242 due to the E appearing to conform more to that shown by North (1994) Vol.I pg.219 fig.12. The penny was cut in half from 5 o'clock to 11 o'clock on the obverse. Uncertain moneyer, potentially Salemun of Canterbury. The coin is bent to a degree that it is slightly convex on the obverse and concave on the reverse.
Obverse description: Crowned bust facing forwards holding sceptre in right hand.
