An irregular fragment of tertiary debitage - most probably the remains of a Mesolithic core of irregular shape that has been rolled in the ploughsoil. From the images provided it is possible to see the removal of narrow blades in two opposing directions. These platforms are at opposite ends of the debitage. The flint is a dark grey black colour. The flint has been heavily rolled in the ploughsoil; this has resulted in direct damage and irregular removals as well as a general surface abrasion. The core measures 38mm in length, 35mm width, and is 15mm thick.

A near complete flint blade of probable later Mesolithic date (6500BC - 4500BC). The flint tool is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and D shaped in cross section; it has been abraded in the ploughsoil. It is formed on a tertiary flake and there is no cortex present. The bulb of percussion is lost due to a break across the lower half of the blade that has removed the bulb and the striking platform. It is possible this edge has been trimmed as small areas of retouch is present. The dorsal face shows areas of clear flake removals and the direction of these removals may indicate that this …

A near complete flint blade of probable late Mesolithic date (6500BC - 4500BC). The flint tool is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and sub-triangular in cross section; it has been abraded in the ploughsoil. It is formed on a primary flake. The bulb of percussion is present on the ventral face, although the striking platform has been lost to modern abrasion. The dorsal face is covered with 50% cortex which is a grey white colour. The long edges of each side of the blade have been retouched with relatively crude and disorganised secondary flaking - this is most evident on the ventral fac…

An abraded tertiary debitage / waste flake of probable later Mesolithic date (6500-4500 BC). The flake has been abraded within the ploughzone resulting in an irregular shape. Originally it was rectangular in form with a distinctive bulbar scar on the ventral face and prepared platform on the distal end. The dorsal face has a central crested ridge. All other removals are modern and the blade has been rolled in the topsoil. The flint is a coarse grained mid- grey black colour consistent with locally utilised chert. The blade measures 20mm length, is 13mm wide.

Five complete and snapped flint blades or bladlets of later Mesolithic date (6000BC - 3500BC). These blades are struck from a core and have the generic crested appearance on their dorsal faces. Many of the blades have been deliberately snapped through the removal of side notches and deliberate breaking. The underside / ventral face of each shows conchoidal rippling and some have evidence of bulb of percussion and / or striking platforms. All the blades have some form of retouch along their long edges - this is best described as being disorganised short, sub-parallel, semi-abrupt which…

The ventral face has a bulb of percussion and chonchoidal ripples - a clear knapping platform is present. The dorsal face has a series of parallel sided blade scars extending in multiple directions. This suggests that the core from which this blade was struck had been previously worked in at least two opposing directions - with it being turned twice through 45 degrees to allow for additional blade removals. A single distinct dressed knapping platform is present and there are several areas of multiple blade removals in a single direction .The flint is a dark black colour with an area of milky white cortex on one edge. The flint has been heavily rolled in the ploughsoil and all surfaces are abraded. The core measures 19.7mm in length, 26.9mm width, is 18.1mm thick and weighs 12.3 grams.

PAS-RC07 Grid A2 A small snapped blade of later Mesolithic date (5500 - 3500 BC). The blade is broadly rectangular in plan and rhomboid in section. The upper dorsal face has a series of linear flake scars present created by the removal of other blades from the core. The reverse (ventral) shows conchoidal fractures, bulb of percussion and striking platform. The blade was originally much longer but the lower part is now lost / detached possibly via flaking in the Mesolithic. The two long edges both exhibit retouch creating serrated edges. The flint is a mid grey brown colour with …

Flint blade like flake of later Mesolithic date (4000 -3000 BC). The flake is broadly rectangular in plan and has a crested (triangular shaped) cross section. The striking platform and bulb of percussion are both present. The external edges have been retouched and an irregular removal is present on one edge- the area around this is retouched possibly suggesting the removal shape had a specific use. The blade is a mid brown grey colour. It measures: 19.4mm in length, 14.4mm width, is 3.9mm thick and weighs 0.72 grams.

Two flint blades of later Mesolithic date (4000 -3000 BC). Both blades are rectangular in plan and have crested (triangular shaped) cross sections. They are also both small but complete showing prepared striking platform and bulb of percussion. The larger blade is a mid black grey colour; the long edges show no signs of retouch (although they are abraded in the plough soil). The base of the dorsal face shows a distinct overhang where the removal of the previous blade had left a small projection caused by a hinge fracture. The smaller blade a mid brown grey colour and has a is distinct…

Two small flint blades of later Mesolithic date (4000 -3000 BC). Both blades are rectangular in plan and have crested cross sections. They are also both snapped from larger longer blades. The larger blade is a mid brownish grey colour with heavily mottling; the striking platform and bulb of percussion have both been removed. The long edges have also been reworked with abrupt retouch. The smaller is a mottled grey white coloured flint which has also been snapped removing the striking platform and bulb of percussion. This has been heavily retouched (with more skill than the other) with …

A small flint blade of later Mesolithic date (4000 -3000 BC). The blade is rectangular in plan and has a crested cross section. The striking platform and bulb of percussion are present on the ventral face although damaged by plough-roll. The long edges have not been reworked although movement in the plough surface suggests abrupt retouch is present. The flint is relatively coarse and a mid grey colour with small areas of translucent milky grey white coloured patina. The blade measures 28.5mm in length, 12.8mm width, is 4.9mm thick and weighs 1.61 grams.
