An incomplete cast copper alloy 'miniature' knobbed terret ring of probable later Iron Age or early Roman date (100 BC - 200 AD). Approximately 1/5 of the terret survives, originally it would have been D shaped in plan; it is now an irregular crescent (C shape). The cross section varies in shape along the length of the terret; for the majority it is oval / lentoid. At the base of the ring is a horizontal strap bar with an angular faceted lentoid cross section. This bar is incomplete; all that remains is a small section and scar at one end. Incomplete fragment of a cast copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type (Mackreth Part 3, Group 4.a-b, flat wing ends type) of Roman date (80-120 AD). Approximately 25% of the brooch is present and consists of the head. The wings, pin, bow and foot are missing, presumably lost in antiquity. The bow head is hump-like, and slightly angular in profile, narrowing to a point at the start of the bow. The reverse of the head of the brooch (between the two wings) has a sub-square shaped recess. A fragment of cast copper alloy harness fitting of Anglo-Scandinavian date (900-1100 AD). The fragment consists of one terminal of a harness link / fitting; the breaks are patinated and unabraded suggesting damage in antiquity. In shape the fragment is an irregular lozenge; with knop like terminals on the original edges. The link to the bar of the harness is lost. The internal diameter of the hole is 10.8mm and the edges are worn with use. The artefact is a mid green brown colour with an abraded patina. Treasure Case - 2010 T344 Hollow-cast spherical head from a Post Medieval (16th century) silver gilt dress pin. The head is 11.5mm in diameter and is 11.6mm thick, it weighs 1.89 grams. The pin head has filigree and applied knop decoration. It has been divided by a raised border of two lines of plain wire filigree into two hemispheres. The lower hemisphere has been decorated with four large circles of twisted wire filigree each containing smaller circles of plain wire. An incomplete cast copper alloy Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, West Midlands) brooch of Roman date (80-120 AD). The wings are complete but very short being semi-cylindrical in plan with closed and abraded ends. The axis bar, spring and pin are lost. The remains of a much abraded rearward facing hook is located at the centre of the wings on the upper edge. Gilded copper-alloy buckle plate. The central part is rectangular, with two folded-under hinge loops along one long edge, both now broken (old breaks). Slightly more of one hinge loop is missing than the other. A narrow waist in the centre of the other long edge separates the central part from a terminal. This is symmmetrical, with each half consisting of a subrectangular centre with crescentic end projections; the effect is that of a cow-horn or moustache shape. An unusual copper alloy strap-mounted terret The terret is irregular in plan and cross section; it comprises of several different elements. The attachment bar is sub-rectangular in both plan (loop being staple shaped) and cross section. The attachment bar measures 24.1mm width, 3.8mm thickness, projects 12.0mm from skirt (internal measurement of loop 14.5mm x 7.3mm). The attachment bar joins to an inverted flared skirt.
