An incomplete, lead alloy discoid object, possibly a uniface token of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400-1800). The object is irregularly shaped, being largely semi-circular from 2 o'clock to 9 o'clock on the obverse, with a section that is trapezoidal from 9 o'clock to 2 o'clock. There is a raised border around the edge of the obverse, whilst obverse has an uncertain design that appears to possibly be some form of bust with what appears to be a crown near the top of the token and a hexagonal shaped face beneath. Thus, it may be a Powell Type 10 …

An incomplete, lead alloy uniface token of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400-1800). The token was originally circular in plan, though around one quarter is now missing, and is uniface. There is a straight raised line running from near the bottom of the central line to around 8 o'clock and what may be the remnants of triangular depressions on the right hand side, though these may be more due to post depositional abrasion, especially given that the…

A lead alloy uniface token of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400-1800). The token is roughly circular in plan and is uniface. The obverse is decorated with an unusual design. This design consists of an off-centre, horizontal, thicker raised rib. Near the centre of this line, there emerges another raised rib that forks part way along, resulting in three raised lines heading towards the edge of the token. On either side of this central forked object, there are two curved lines. Below the off-centre, thicker line, there are three raised ribs tha…

Post Medieval trade token of William Swift of Worcester. Williamson No. 165, Dickenson No. 165-7. Trade tokens were issued between 1648 and 1672 at a time when there was little low denomination coinage being issued by the crown. As a result traders and business proprietors began issuing tokens as an alternate coinage with equivalent denominations of a farthing, half penny or penny. Such trade tokens rarely travel far from their place of issue and provide an insight to the trade of the time. In 1672 regal copper coinage was introduced and the trade tokens were then banned (Besly 199…
