A complete lead alloy bar shot (dumbell shot), of Post Medieval dating (17th Century). The shot consists of two spheres of 15.4 mm diameter joined together by a short circular sectioned bar of 5.9 mm diameter. It does not appear as if the shot has been fired. It measures 31.4 mm in length and a diameter of 15.4 mm. It weighs 38.5 g. The shot is a light grey colour, with an even surface patina. This shot was probably for use with a carbine or pistol of military specification, comprising paired spherical balls joined by an integrally cast round section shank. It is thought that …

An incomplete copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill of Roman dating AD 80 to AD120. Around 25% of the brooch is present, consisting of the bow. The wings, spring, pin, foot and catch plate are missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The bow is angular and hump back, resembling a comma. It is broken around 1/3 of its length. Ridges are present at the shoulder junction between the bow and the wings. Decoration is present on the wings in the form of a vertical twisted rope style line.
