A complete lead alloy bar shot (dumbell shot), of Post Medieval dating (17th Century). The shot consists of two spheres of 15.4 mm diameter joined together by a short circular sectioned bar of 5.9 mm diameter. It does not appear as if the shot has been fired. It measures 31.4 mm in length and a diameter of 15.4 mm. It weighs 38.5 g. The shot is a light grey colour, with an even surface patina. This shot was probably for use with a carbine or pistol of military specification, comprising paired spherical balls joined by an integrally cast round section shank. It is thought that …
