A cast copper alloy box or casket mount, probably of Late Medieval to Post Medieval dating (c.1350 to 1600 AD).
The mount is incomplete and is rectangular in shape. The original mount would have been longer in length as old breaks are present at both the short ends. The long edges are the original edges of the mount. The front of the mount displays incised decoration in the form of two saltires (double crosses) separated by two vertical parallel incised lines, within two horizontal lines. Cast copper alloy mount of probable medieval or post medieval date (1350-1550). The mount is sub oval in plan and domed in section (D-shaped). It measures 21.7mm length, 12.1mm maximum width and is 3.6mm thick. It weighs 2.03 grams. The upper and lower surfaces are undecorated. The reverse of the mount is hollow with one central pin. This pin is broken but would have been sub-rectangular in section. The mount is a mid green colour with a polished patina which has been abraded and rolled in the plough soil causing it to become slightly a symmetrical in plan. There are also large areas o…

Cast copper alloy mount dating from the later medieval period (1350-1500). The mount is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and cross section. In profile the mount is slightly bowed with the outer face being inscribed with a series of letters in black-letter script. The mount measures 56.2mm length, is 30.1mm wide, 6.5mm thick and weighs 17.43 grams.
In plan the mount tapers and then expands along its length from a relatively narrow broken edge to a wide scalloped terminal. In thickness the mount tapers from the broken edge where it is relatively wide (6.5mm) to a very narrow edge at th…

Cast copper alloy bar of unknown function of probable medieval date (1300-1500). The bar has two irregular shaped decorative knops on both ends and the bar itself tapers and swells long its length. The section of the bar is broadly oval and the artefact in plan is broadly sub-rectangular. The knops on either end are cast and each knop is formed from six faceted sides. Each facet has a series of lentoid pellets arranged horizontally. One knop is slightly smaller than the other and this one is more worn (with the majority of the design being lost).
The bar is a mid – light green col…

Cast copper alloy zoomorphic mount or stud of medieval date (1200 - 1450 AD). The mount is broadly sub-triangular in plan being D shape in cross section. The front face of the mount is domed whilst the rear is relatively. From the centre of the rear face a small oval cross sectioned rivet or stud extends; this is broken and distorted / bent as a result of movement in the ploughsoil. The rivet seems to be present on the upper face of the mount as a badly abraded recess; this suggests that it is a two part mount rather than cast in one piece. The front face of the mount is decorate…
