The obverse depicts a forward facing crowned bust of Henry III with pellet-in-annulet eyes and a sceptre in hand. The full legend would have read 'HENRICVS REX III' The reverse depicts a voided long cross with three pellets in each quarter. The full legend would have read: WIL LEM ONL VND which refers to the moneyer 'Willem', and the mint London.

Henry III (1216-72), silver penny (1247-8, type 1b). The coin has not been struck centrally but is skewed towards the left side as you view the obverse. Moneyer; LIE TERCI. Mint: London. Obverse description; crowned head facing forward. The crown consists of a horizontal band with six small pellets (two above and four below) and three large pellets (above the horizontal band)that are incorporated into the circle of pellets that contains the crowned head.
