A cast copper alloy dagger guard / quillion or hilt plate of later medieval date (1200-1500). The plate is incomplete having broken across the mid-point. It is broadly triangular in shape (but originally would have been elliptical). The breaks are old and patinated although relatively crisp suggesting little movement in the ploughsoil. The extant terminal terminates in a bulbous edge rather than knop. It is highly likely that this edge did not act as a hand guard due to its slight nature. A cast copper alloy quillion guard from a small dagger or long knife of later medieval date (AD 1200-1500). The artefact is broadly rectangular in plan and has a similar shaped cross section. The long edges taper along their length terminating in a rounded bulbous knop. The opposite edn is broken, and the break is patinated suggesting damage in antiquity. The break is positioned across a square shaped cast hole which would originally have held the tang of the blade. A cast copper-alloy dagger pommel of late medieval or Post-Medieval date 1300-1700 AD. The pommel is circular in plan, sub -rectangular in profile with a hollow interior . The upper and lower surfaces are undecorated. The upper and lower surfaces are pierced by a vertical square shaped holes - the one on the upper edge is considerable smaller than the lower. The artefact is a mid brown colour with an abraded surface patina.
