An incomplete, copper alloy button of Post Medieval to Modern date (c. AD 1700-1900). The button is slightly convex on the obverse and slightly concave on the reverse. On the reverse, the button is largely concave, though there is a central conical section that rises up and which is where the now missing attachment loop would have been located. There is no decoration on the button.

A Post Medieval cast copper alloy 'dandy' button. The button is made of tombac (an alloy of mostly copper and zinc with some other elements) giving a silvery appearance. The button has a flat back and front with a copper alloy loop soldered in the centre of the reverse. The front has an incised pattern of a central flower with a surrounding outer image formed of short curved lines creating a clouded effect; the areas between the lines contain groups of three and four transverse lines creating a corded effect and adding character to the petals.

One nineteenth-century cast and machine pressed copper alloy livery button. The button is circular in plan. The obverse is flat and depicts an erect fist holding a torch. Stamped on the reverse is the maker's details, although the flat face is worn some text has survived, "Jenn--ons London". The button is silvered at the front. There is a small cast stud on the reverse, the loop is damaged leaving only a stud, this is likely due to panning of the soil and corrosion in deposition.

One nineteenth-century cast and machine pressed copper alloy livery button. The button is circular in plan. The obverse is convex and depicts a Cornucopia. Stamped on the reverse is the maker's details, on the concave face is written, "PITT & CO 31 HADDOX LONDON WAY". The button is silvered at the front. There is a small cast stud on the reverse, the loop is complete but blocked with iron corrosion (probably from iron panning in the soil).

A silver plated cast copper alloy button. The button is circular in plan and D shaped in cross section. The front face is decorated and this consists of a central raised boss around which a series of four encircling zones extend. These zones of decoration are annulets, a ring of triangles, a raised circlet and another ring of annulets. The reverse is flat and plain with no sign of tinning / plating an applied copper alloy loop is fixed at the mid-point.

Description: A silver cuff link composed of two ‘buttons’ which are joined together via a chain loop which has been twisted in the centre. Each button is formed from a circular, flat disc with a slightly flared rim. The design on each disc features a flaming heart pierced by two arrows forming a saltire all within a solid border. The button is machine pressed with a pierced debased triskelle like design comprising three crescent shaped arms terminating in trefoil / clover shaped bosses - these bosses are decorated with red and green enamel. The button is a mid brown colour with a corroded surface patina. The remains of an iron hoop are present on the reverse.

The head of a tinned (white metal coated) copper alloy button of probable Post Medieval date (1600-1700 AD). The button consists of a circular, hollow (?) domed (D sectioned) head; the separate cast back plate with integral shank is lost. The domed head of the button is undecorated and has eroded to a mid purple green colour. In places remains a mid-grey silver coloured applied decorative surface. A similar undecorated, button has been dated by Gordon Bailey 17th century, however, the style persists into the 18th century (Bailey 2004: pp 32-33, fig 8.10).

Cast lead alloy artefact, possibly the front from an early button, or unusually detailed token of probable later medieval or post medieval date (1400 – 1650). The artefact is broadly D shaped in cross section and circular in plan, although the edges have been lost through abrasion. Cast copper alloy button probably dating from the post medieval period or early modern period (1650-1750). The button is circular with a dark black green coloured patina on the front face. It is broadly circular in plan with a concave rear face and convex / domed front face. There is no cast design present, a sub-rectangular lug projects from the rear face at the mid point and is pieced by a central hole.
The button measures 26.1mm diameter and is 10.2mm thick. It weighs 8.54 grams.

Cast copper alloy button of probable Post Medieval date (1600-1700 AD). The button consists of a circular, probably hollow domed (D sectioned) head, with a separate cast back plate with integral shank set off centre at 90º to the angle of the head. The shank is formed from a length of copper alloy wire. The domed head of the button is undecorated (although heavily dented) as is the reverse face. The button head measures 11.9mm diameter and is 8.9mm thick: The shank projects 3.1mm. The button weighs 2.01 grams.

Cast lead alloy button of probable late medieval or post medieval date (1400-1700). The artefact is sub-circular in plan, and semi-circular (D shaped) in cross-section with the remains of a central rectangular shank on the rear. The shank has been pierced with a small hole but this is filled and covered by a white corrosion product. The head of the button measures 21.8mm in diameter and 6.2mm thick. The rear lug measures 10mm in length and 8.2mm width, it projects 5.3mm. The button weighs 16.05 grams.

The button consists of a solid head from which a probable copper alloy (uncertain due to abrasion / corrosion product) wire protrudes at an angle of 90º to that of the head.
