An incomplete copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is a sub-rectangular knee buckle with a drilled frame to house a separate spindle. The spindle no longer remains. The metal has a mid-grey/brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 17.3mm long, 16.7mm wide, 3.4mm thick and weighs 1.2g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead p.111, no.712 and is dated to circa AD 1720 - 1790.

The frame is a rounded triangle in section. The wire pin is curled around the strap bar. The surface of the frame is abraded, but has patches of a well-developed light green patina. Medieval probable buckle (13thto 15thcenturies): The copper alloy buckle plate is almost complete and only a fragment of the frame remains. The plate is an elongated rectangle which is bent in profile forming an L-shape. One terminal has a moulded edge in the form of a long central knop, with a shorter knop either side. At this terminal there is a rivet hole. The opposite terminal also has a small rivet hole, and an incomplete perforation where originally the pin would have been fixed, but the pin is now missing. Post Medieval (16th to mid 17th century) single-looped buckle frame: The loop of the copper alloy frame is a sub-rectangle with an expanded, splayed foot, and a lozenge shaped knop position centrally on the frame opposite the strap bar. Medieval (late 14th to early 16th century) annular buckle pin: In plan, the copper alloy pin is a long slender rectangle with a rounded blunt tip. The opposite terminal has a fragment of a rounded penannular loop or annular loop which would be fixed around the bar of the frame. On the upper surface the pin is decorated with a transverse ridge. A worn and damaged gilded, copper alloy shield buckle plate. Probably Medieval. The buckle plate is folded around the strap bar and a hole for a pin. The folded section is 12.63mm long, and the buckle plate is 5.37mm thick at the fold. There are three rivets in situ, with two being near the fold and one at the apex of the triangle. The upper face of the plate is decorated with a floral design and appears to be gilded, whilst the reverse is undecorated. An incomplete, copper alloy single loop buckle of Medieval date (c. AD 1250-1400). The pin is missing. The buckle frame is sub-oval with a narrow offset bar and an ornate, moulded outside edge. There would have once been lobed knops with transverse ridges between them on the outside edge, however these have been worn away. The reverse of the outside edge is flat, whilst the exterior face is rounded. The top and bottom edges have oval cross sections whilst the offset bar has a rectangular cross section. A copper alloy post medieval shoe or knee buckle, with a drilled frame for a separate spindle dating to circa AD 1690-1720.  The brooch is broadly rectangular with rounded edges. The frame is curved in profile. At the centre of each long edge is a projection that would have held the separate spindle. This is now lost along with the pin. The upper frame is decorated with a small groove around the circumference of the brooch.
