Cast copper alloy buckle fragment with drilled frame of late post-medieval date (1690-1720). The buckle frame fragment likely made up a sub-rectangular buckle, although its full size is unclear. In profile it is bowed / arched. The frame of the buckle is decorated with a series of cast designs, which are formed from vertical and horizontal recessed lines echoing the shape of the buckle. The reverse of the buckle is plain and undecorated. The buckle is a dark grey green colour with a polished patina that covers all surfaces. Movement in the ploughsoil has resulted in the buckle becomin…

A copper alloy buckle of uncertain date, probably Medieval. It is sub-rectangular or trapezoid and double looped asymmetrically with an integral plate. The integral bar is recessed on the reverse, and bevelled on the upper face. It is also worn, suggesting that this is where the pin was attached (now missing). The loop at the narrower attachment end is shorter in length than the other loop. Extending from the upper face of the attachment edge is a plate, which is decorated by a shell on the obverse marked with grooving. The reverse possesses the same shape however shows no decorati…
