A near-complete copper alloy Medieval buckle (c. AD 1400-1500). The buckle consists of the frame and the end of the pin, the rest of the pin lost to old damage. The frame is roughly circular in plan and plano-convex in section (c.46.8mm diameter, 4.1mm thick). The frame is divided by a central bar that is sub-triangular in section and flush with the frame. The surviving portion of the pin is made of a rectangular strip of copper alloy (4.6mm wide) looped around the bar. Medieval copper alloy oval buckle frame with separate plate, probably of 14th or 15th century date The buckle is near-complete, missing the pin and is comparatively small (with an overall length of 30.7mm and a weight of 4.2g). The buckle is oval form (4.7mm long and 4.9mm wide) and the frame is D-shaped section, wider and thicker at the outside edge (1.6mm – 2.2mm wide and 2.5mm – 3.2mm thick). A complete gilded copper alloy buckle with folded sheet plate of Medieval date (likely 13th century). The buckle has an oval frame with offset, narrowed bar and expanded outer edge that is flat in section and slopes at an angle of roughly 50 to 45 degrees relative to the plane of the plate. An incomplete D-shaped lipped buckle of Medieval date (c. AD 1200-1400). The buckle consists only of a single looped D-shaped frame, the pin is missing. The front outside edge has a lip with a central notch to receive the pin. The trapezoid-section bar is narrowed, with a possible constriction related to the pin on its reverse surface. The sides of the frame are faceted. The reverse of the frame is undecorated, apart from remnants of the white metal surface treatment that covers much of the surface of the object.
