The buckle is D-shaped with a slightly pointed outer edge and a narrowed and offset strap bar that retains a plain folded and slotted sub-rectangular buckle plate. Incomplete medieval spur buckle with integral, the buckle frame is truncated with only the side arms remaining, behind is a rectangular plate with a central piercing for the pin.  Emanating from the rear is the buckle plate, this has an expanded square panel that is domed and decorated with four trefoils that originate from a central point.  Projecting from the rear of the square is the remains of a hook.  Traces of gilding is present on the surface.

The buckle is a 'spectacle' buckle that has a frame of two oval loops which form an overall figure of 8. It is D-shaped in section. A pin rest is present at the middle point of one of the loops, but the pin is missing. The frame is undecorated and has a dark green patina. Shares similarities with no. 440 in Egan, G. and Pritchard, F., 1991 Dress Accessories, c.1150-c.1450 (Medieval Finds from Excavations in London) (1991) London : Stationery Office Books. Although this example is very large and may well be on the late side. The object measures: 28.59mm in length, 25.21mm in width, has a thickness of 4.6mm and a weight of 5.81 grams.

An incomplete cast copper alloy double-looped buckle of Medieval to post-Medieval date (c. AD 1350-c. 1650). The pin is missing / lost. The frame is convex at the front and concave at the rear - forming a D shaped cross section. Each loop of the buckle is similar in size being oval in plan. The narrowed central bar is semi- circular on the front face and flat to the rear in cross-section. The lost pin would have fitted here. A cast copper alloy, single loop buckle cast with an integral plate, dating from the medieval period c. AD 1250 - 1400. The buckle is very small it has an oval frame with a broad outer edge and thickened plate on the lower edge - the external edges have a transverse moulded bar which terminate is pointed flanking knops. The plate is tapers dramatically and then expands in an arc before tapering to a point. The upper surface of the plate is decorated with a cast design of ridges. Medieval buckle (mid 13th to the mid 14th century): The copper alloy single looped buckle frame is an oval with the strap bar having an integral buckle plate. The loop of the buckle frame is obliquely angled and undecorated and tapers in width at the side edges which then meet the buckle plate. The buckle plate is triangular with a perforation towards the strap bar which has traces of an iron pin. There is a second perforation on the plate which is a rivet hole. Medieval (late 14th to early 16th century) annular buckle: In plan, the copper alloy buckle frame is sub-circular and is sub-oval in section. The frame is undecorated. There is a cast copper alloy pin curled around the frame which is sub-rectangular in section and tapers slightly to a blunt point. The buckle frame is complete being broadly oval (figure of eight) in plan with a slight central bar. The pin is lost but would have been formed from a length of copper alloy sheet that was attached to the central bar by the end being folded to form an irregular 'wrap around' loop. Medieval (c. 1350-1450) buckle: The copper alloy frame is a sub rectangle with a narrow and off-set strap bar. Oppiste the strap bar there is a central notch. The surface of the frame has a mid brown patina. It measures 17.97mm long, 25.15mm wide and weighs 2.03g. Whitehead illustrates a similar buckle, No. 143 and dates it to c. 1350-1450.

A fragment from a cast copper alloy single looped 'roller' buckle of medieval date (1250-1400). The frame of the buckle is broken and only the front part survives; it is broadly crescentic in plan and sub-rectangular in cross section. The recessed and off-set strap bar as well as the pin and associated buckle plate are all lost. The outer edge of the frame is thickened with two baluster shaped projections with a recessed bar between. Wrapped around the bar is a strip of copper alloy sheet decorated with transverse ridges.
