An incomplete copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating to c.AD 75-175. See Mackreth (2011) TR 2.2c1 The brooch consists of the head and the upper portion of the bow; the lower bow, foot, catchplate and hinge with pin are missing. The head is broad and rounded, typical of the trumpet style. The top of the head appears decorated but is too worn to determine details. The reverse is flat with an incomplete integral loop in the centre. Below the head begins the bow at the top of which is a petalled knop. The bow terminates in a worn breal shortly below the knop.
