A Mesolithic or early Neolithic flint bladelet. The bladelet does not appear to have been subject to further retouch after having been struck from its core. It is trapezoidal in shape and the distal and proximal ends are missing. It measures 14.06mm long, 7.53mm wide, 2.7mm thick and weighs 0.3 grams. The flint is white to pale grey in colour due to its patination. The blade dates to the Mesolithic to early Neolithic periods (-8300 - -2900).

A Neolithic flint blade from the outer area of the core. The flint is probably a river sourced pebble. The blade shows both hinge fractures on the front (dorsal) face and choncoidal fractures and bulb of percussion on the reverse (ventral). The striking platform is also present. The retouch on the long edges is from indirect percussion and is neat and regular. The cortex suggests that several blades have been removed from the core prior to the removal of this flake

Flint blade like flake of later Mesolithic date (4000 -3000 BC). The flake is broadly rectangular in plan and has a crested (triangular shaped) cross section. The striking platform and bulb of percussion have been removed by trimming / snapping. There is no evidence of the edges being reworked - and it is this represents a piece of secondary debitage / blade removal during preparation of a new core. The blade is a mid mottled grey colour with a large piece of white cortex along one edge. It measures: 18.2mm in length, 11.1mm width, is 3.7mm thick and weighs 0.6 grams.

The blade appears to have been snapped at its proximal end, although based on the even patina on the flint this is an ancient break. The left lateral edge is still sharp, whilst the right edge has been blunted using retouch from the dorsal face, presumably to facilitate comfortable handling of the blade. A Mesolithic flint bladelet. It appears to have been broken in prehistory, as there is a break with a patina which matches that visible on the exterior of the rest of the flint. The remains of the bladelet measure 26.01 mm long, 10.97 mm wide, 5.43 mm thick and weighs 1.3 grams. It is triangular in section and grey in colour with cream patches.

Complete 'snapped' flint blade of probable Mesolithic date (6500BC - 3500BC). The flint blade is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and triangular (crested) in cross section. The bulb of percussion is present on the ventral (lower) face but the striking platform has been removed by abrasion. The dorsal face has been heavily reworked with all the external edges being retouched. This includes, quite unusually, the lower end which has been shaped into a chisel shaped wedge. The flint is a mid creamy grey mottled colour. It has been rolled in the ploughsoil resulting in damage to some of th…

A complete chert blade of probable later Mesolithic date (6500BC - 3500BC). The flint blade is irregular in plan being broadly crescent shaped; in cross section it is triangular (crested). The bulb of percussion is present on the ventral (lower) face but the striking platform has been removed by abrasion. The dorsal face has been reworked with the exterior curved edge being retouched. The chert is a mid creamy grey mottled colour. It has been rolled in the ploughsoil resulting in damage to some of the edges. The chert is likely to have come from a seam present along the welsh border.…
