A cast and pressed silver 'coin' brooch date 1836 based on a half-crown design. The brooch comprises a solid silver frame with eight rectangular raised panels on the front face and small circular knops on the edge. Within the frame is a machine pressed silver disc depicting the draped royal arms surmounted by a crown with ANNO 1836 beneath. The ground around the shield is keyed and the remains of black enamel / niello is present in areas of the shield. It is likely that the entire disc was originally inlaid with multi coloured enamels in the style of the period. The exterior of the f…

A medieval brooch formed of a silver wire hoop decorated with twists and circular punch marks. The pin is retained by a recess in the frame and has a rectangular collar on the front with three punches. The brooch is distorted into an oval shape, but was almost undoubtedly circular when made. A large number of comparable simple rings of varying size survive from the period. The ring is silver- gilt and dates from the thirteenth century.

Incomplete silver penny of Edward I, Mint London, Class 2b January - May 1280. The penny has been reused to form a brooch with a small silver loop being soldered to the obverse face. It has been applied in such a way that the cross on the reverse is vertical. It is possible that the front face has also been gilt (although this may be a result of the burial conditions). The lower part of thE coin has been lost - probably as a result of movement in the soil.
