A large highly decorated near complete lid most probably from a cistern of post medieval date 1650-1850. The fragment is broken into four large parts and was originally identified as a potential Roman mortaria fragment. However, more detailed research has idfentified the fabric as a hard fired earthenware which has well sorted small black coal measure grits within the mica rich matrix. An incomplete fragment of a clay tobacco pipe comprising the stem and foot dating to the late post medieval date (c.1660-1680). The fragment is broadly similar to David Atkinson's Broseley Type 2b (1660-1680) classification. The bowl is lost however it would originally have had a narrow elongated bowl. The foot is relatively small flat oval shaped which is marked with the intials W V within a heart shaped stamp or cartouche. A rim sherd of a German salt-glazed stoneware vessel of post medieval date (late 17th/early 18th century). The fabric is a hard almost plastic stoneware which is mica rich. The fabric is a reduced mid grey colour with mid brown internal and external glaze, the exterior is mottled by the salt glaze. The sherd comprises the side wall and the rim; the base is missing so overall size cannot be suggested. The rim is bevelled. The sherd measures 30.5mm high, 43.6mm wide and 6.1mm thick. It weighs 13.1 grams.

An incomplete clay pipe dating between 1660 and 1700. This artefact consists of just the bowl and foot. The bowl is bulbous and about 22 degress from perpendicular to the foot. There is a simple band of vertical indentations below the bowl rim. There is no makers stamp on the foot. The bowl opening varies from 10.1mm to 10.6mm in diameter. The pipe is 36.3mm high, with a maximum diameter in its middle of 20.7mm. It weighs 12.2g.

A sherd of pottery from the rim of a Post Medieval open bowl. This rim is rounded, protuding on the outside to form a beaded lip. The sherd extends for the full height, 26mm, of the bowl and includes a bit of the base. The sherd is less than 5% of the circumference making the bowl diameter hard to measure.
