Roman (late 1st to 2nd century) brooch; Trumpet brooch: The bow head has a vertical oval plate (with abraded edges) from which the bow protrudes from the centre. The reverse of the bow head is slightly concave with an incomplete, vertical, perforated lug. The upper portion of the bow is a pointed oval in section and curves sharply to a moulded, expanded, simplified acanthus. The lower portion of the bow is undecorated, slender and tapers to a blunt point. On the reverse of this section there is a trace of the catchplate.
