A complete leaf shaped flint arrowhead of probable earlier Neolithic date (4000 - 2700 BC) formed on a tertiary flake. The arrowhead is ogival / lentoid (a diamond shaped lozenge) in plan and lentoid in cross section. The arrowhead has been knapped from a mottled light-grey to brown flint which is opaque in places. Both faces of the flint show invasive, scaled, low angled retouch, with one face showing a slight scar, probably caused by a plough or similar machinery. A heavily corroded and broken Polden Hill type Roman brooch dated to (c.AD 70-240). The bow is missing it's lower section and catch plate, the pin is also missing. The wings are intact and the end plates are pierced - they hold the copper alloy axis bar. The spring is also mostly intact and remains of five turns survive wrapped around the axis bar are present, an external chord passes through a drilled hole in a central rib on the head of the brooch. The foot is decorated on the front with three vertical ribs, the central rib being wider than the two flanking ribs to the side. Illegible reverse legend, with reverse type depicting Roma seated left on cuirass holding transverse spear in raised right hand, resting left elbow on round shield, S-C in the field. Mint of Rome.
