Lead bag seal. Cast disc with a pair of holes in opposite edges, to function as a drawstring bag closure. One side bears a stamped trade mark comprising crowned cabled rim and plain inner circle with a billeted bar across it with vegetal garniture, and the legend: GOOD SEEDS / CARRIAGE FREE / REGISTERED, with the larger legend: TRADE M[ARK RE]G[ISTERED] outside it. The opposite side is stamped centrally: SUTTON AND SONS, with an outer legend: SEEDSM[EN BY APPOINTMENT ENG]LAND. Founded in 1806, the firm was warranted by Queen Victoria in 1858. Obverse: to left a pillar to lower right a rectangular block set at an irregular angle (to the tower) inscribed 1642. Above a figure possibly leading a horse or dog, to right a stylised tree. Above initials - possibly C B Reverse: Divided evenly by a cross with semi-circular shaped /bi-furcated axis terminals and a circular annulet at centre. A late or more probably post Medieval pan weight cast in lead, This crude 1 ounze weight is a flat cylinder in shape, with an irregualr raised lip around the perimeter on both sides. The weight is plain with no surface stamps or decoration. It has a cream patina coloured surface patina. Similar stacking weights often in copper alloy are known from the Post Medieval period (Henry VII and later). The weight weighs 30.5grams, which is 1.08 Ounces. It has a maximum diameter of 31mm, and a maximum thickness, at the rim, of 6mm.

A complete, cast lead alloy, weight of post medieval date. The weight is flat and broadly circular in plan. It has an abraded , irregular rim, which is most prominent on the top side. The irregular nature of the rim is probably due to movement in the plough soil. On both sides of the weight is a central indentation. The only markings are four irregularly spaced, incised ringlets on one half of the top side. The weight has a yellow grey patina all over. The maximum diameter of the weight is 30.5mm, and its maximum thickness, at the rim, is 5.4mm. It weighs 23.95g ( 0.845oz).

The pattern is similar to a sailing ship's wheel / or a cartwheel / spiderweb, consisting of eight equally spaced lines radiating from a central much abraded pellet to the edge of the flan. A circle divides these ribs half way from the centre to the edge. This sprue, along with another at the other end of the glazing strips, would of helped stop the soft strips deforming during transport. There are the ends of two strips on this incomplete sprue. Each strip is H shaped in profile, providing a channel for glass to fit in on either side of the strip. The sprue has been mishapened and gouged by farm machinery. The sprue is a dull grey on colour. A fragment from a cast lead alloy seal matrix of late medieval date (1200-1400). The fragment is irregular in plan - originally being a pointed oval / vesica-shape. The broken edges are all old and abraded and a light grey coloured corrosion product is present. The design on the front face is lost - the central element comprised a vertical hollow sided shape - possibly a vertical cross which is enclosed by a slight incised border which echos the shape of the seal.
